A recent open house hosted by the College of Engineering and Applied Science (EAS) shows promise for increased enrollment within the school, with more than double the attendees from last year’s open house at over 320 guests.
The event included lab demos with the help of faculty, staff and students and tours of the shops, classrooms, collaboration spaces and new and modernized buildings. EAS partnered with several UCCS departments that tabled for the event as well, including the Chancellor’s Leadership Class, the EAS Career Office, Financial Aid and Student Employment, Residence Life and Housing, Student Life and Leadership, UCCSlead, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and Veteran and Military Affairs.
“I hope the feedback from this open house will help us understand our incoming students interests and how we can further serve them,” said EAS Dean Ying Shang. “Special thanks to Dr. Corl, Addey Vaters and all of the Dean’s Office staff helping the planning of the open house. I also want to thank Shouhuai Xu, Scott Trimboli and Jena McCollum for their leadership.”
Prospective students came to learn 24 undergraduate and graduate degree programs available across the departments of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. They shared feedback about which they were most interested in learning more about, giving an idea of the areas and industries upcoming students are pursuing, along with the education level they wanted to know more about, seen in the graphs below.
