Next time Big Cat Coffee has discounted drinks, or the Campus Store has a sale, you could find out just from walking by their locations.
Starting this semester, the UCCS app is implementing news updates through location-based push notifications. These optional notifications alert those who have the UCCS app downloaded on their phone of campus notices and updates based on their proximity to a building or area on campus.
The notifications are non-repetitive based on each instance or event prompting the message. For example, if a notification is created to alert users that a building or room is closing early, or is undergoing maintenance, those who have the notifications enabled will receive a single alert when they approach the area. If they leave the area and return, they won’t receive another notification unless it’s for a different reason.
To opt out of these notifications, it’s as simple as turning off location sharing within phone settings, then app settings for the UCCS Mobile App. This will disable location-based pushed notifications specifically.
