The College of Public Service is celebrating the induction of the largest class in program history into the Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society. This year, 54 Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students were honored for their outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to advancing social justice.
Founded in 1960, Phi Alpha was established to promote high standards of education for social workers and to recognize students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and professional dedication. Today, the organization includes chapters across the United States and continues to foster leadership, service, and humanitarian values within the social work profession.
The UCCS Delta Kappa Phi Chapter, established in 2021, has quickly grown into a dynamic and engaged community that supports student success and professional development. The chapter is led by President Tara Blanchard and Secretary Hayley Crist, with faculty advisors Tae Kyung Park and Arlene Bjugstad providing guidance and mentorship.
“This milestone reflects the strength, dedication, and passion of our social work students,” said faculty advisors. “We are incredibly proud of our inductees and excited to see the impact they will have in their communities and in the broader field of social work.”
Induction into Phi Alpha recognizes not only academic excellence but also a deep commitment to ethical practice, service, and leadership. The 2026 inductees join a national network of social work scholars and practitioners dedicated to promoting wellbeing and advancing equity.
