Ramadan and Iftaar Night at the Lodge

Join the campus community at The Lodge to observe Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, marked by a month of fasting from dawn to sunset. Learn about the traditions of suhur, the predawn meal, and iftaar, the nightly feast that breaks the fast. In keeping with the traditions of the Sunnah, participants are invited to break their fast with dates or water as a meaningful way to reflect and connect during this holy month.

Host Dr. Katherine Mack will talk with Dr. Jane Collins about her recent book, “Beyond Recognition: Transgender Antidiscrimination Law, Rhetoric, and Ethical Responsibility.” Dr. Collins will discuss how she became involved in research on legal rhetoric and share the choices she made in her writing path that resulted in this book. Students will have the opportunity to engage in conversation with Dr. Collins about her scholarship, research and publishing experiences.
