The Public Safety Initiative, part of the College of Public Service, will be hosting the 2025 McConkie Leadership Conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 25 at Boot Barn Hall.
The McConkie Leadership Conference is held in honor of the late UCCS Professor Mark McConkie, who conducted a leader development event for those in the public sector over 25 years ago. It is a fitting tribute to a gentleman and scholar who dedicated his professional life to teaching and learning. The conference has grown to become the premier leader development event of the Pikes Peak Region.
This year, the Public Safety Initiative (PSI) is pleased to partner with Echelon Front, a group of decorated, combat-proven veterans with experience in building, training and leading high-performance teams. Their formula for creating a culture of extreme ownership is one that will be appreciated by our fast-growing and dynamic community.
We invited Echelon Front to lead this year’s conference as requested by a number of our community stakeholders who were inspired by the podcasts of Jocko Willink and read books such as his #1 New York Times bestseller, Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win.
In addition to Echelon Front, retired Denver PD Captain and former U.S. Marshall, Tina Lewis Rowe, will be speaking on supervision, management, and communication.
