Nature Walk & Environmental Cleanup!

- Celebrate Earth Month with the UCCS Hiking Club and Office of Sustainability on the Nature Walk & Environmental Cleanup along the ROTC Trail at UCCS! Join us for a hike through one of the longest-standing trails on campus, where we’ll clean up the environment while also diving into the fascinating history of the land. The ROTC Trail was once considered to be a part of the “Happy Trail,” a path used during the campus’s time as a sanatorium during the Tuberculosis outbreak. As we walk this historic trail, you’ll learn about the unique role it played in the early days of UCCS, and explore the local plant life and work together to remove litter, helping to preserve this iconic space for future generations.

- Participate in this monthly program co-hosted by the Matrix Center and the Office of Strategic Initiatives, providing an educational opportunity for the UCCS community to learn about the history and significance of nationally celebrated heritage and identity months. This month’s program will highlight Arab American Heritage Month with Carole Woodall, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the History Department. Prof. Woodall will discuss Moustafa Bayoumi’s novel “How Does it Feel to Be a Problem?” This first-person narrative provides a glimpse into the lives of young Arab Americans in the United States and will follow with a Q&A. Colorado AI Summit

- UCCS, in partnership with CCTI, will hold an AI/ML event called Colorado AI Summit: Academia, Industry and Government to highlight UCCS AI/ML student research in this exciting field. The event will be attended by upwards of 100 attendees from the Front Range ecosystem to include industry, academia and government. Students will have the opportunity to highlight their AI/ML research to attendees via 2-3 minute lightning presentations and have the chance to go into more depth with attendees with poster boards set up for the networking/social portion of the event. Additionally, there will be an AI/ML related panel discussion consisting of panelists from academia, industry and government. Registration is required in advance.

- Cinderella: Before the clock strikes midnight, join Colorado Ballet Society as it presents CINDERELLA. Featuring award winning choreography by Charles Maple, the beloved “rags to romance” fairytale comes to life on stage as a feature length ballet. Romance, emotion and spirit abound in this stunning production that is performed by the rising ballet artists of Colorado Springs.
- Linger By The Light: “Linger by the Light” captures the essence of human connection through soulful music. There is comfort found in shared experiences. The choreography navigates the poignant transition of graduation, where the spotlight is both a gift and a burden. As the light dims and brightens, the dancers reveal the beauty of both stepping into the spotlight and lingering in its glow, inviting the audience to reflect on their own journeys of visibility and self-acceptance.
