
The Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience will be hosting their second annual GRIT conference, GRIT 2025: Elevating Education, on March 14, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ent Center for the Arts.
The one-day event continues its mission of fostering resilience, leadership and personal growth for individuals across all walks of life. Open to experienced GRIT coaches, educators, students and newcomers, the conference provides a unique opportunity to engage with the foundational principles of the GRIT Program while exploring innovative ideas in resilience, leadership and community-building.
GRIT 2025: Elevating Education features an impressive lineup of keynote speakers and interactive sessions designed to inspire and educate. The day kicks off with welcoming remarks from Mayor Yemi Mobolade and UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet, setting the stage for an insightful day.
Key highlights include:
- Hunter Kemper, a renowned Olympian, will share his powerful journey of overcoming challenges and building resilience. He will also discuss the Becoming Your Personal Best program and the partnership between the GRIT Program and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum with Team Strong.
- Meg Fredrick and Jeff Kenefsky, founders of the Mindfulness and Positivity Project, will offer strategies for incorporating mindfulness into education, showcasing how these principles are transforming schools.
- Mike Edmonds, a trailblazer in inclusive leadership, will draw on his decades of experience in education to inspire attendees with his insights into mentoring and empowering diverse communities.
- Elycia Cook, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Colorado, will close the conference with a motivational session on transformative leadership.

This year’s conference features an early bird ticket price of $25, available until February 13, and a regular price of $35 after. Lunch is not provided, but the conference is closely located to numerous dining options at University Village.
